A message from the national Fulbright Association office:
On May 8, 2025, the Fulbright Association hosted its inaugural #StandForFulbright: Night of Champions, honoring leaders in global education and advocacy. Held in Washington, DC, and livestreamed worldwide, the event celebrated champions from universities, industry, and the Fulbright community.
The evening featured powerful remarks from Fulbrighters Bryce and Dr. Patrice Moulton; recognition of institutional honorees including Howard University, Johns Hopkins University, The Pennsylvania State University, University of Arkansas Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences, and University of Maryland Global Campus; industry leaders Georgia-Pacific, Hunton, Venable LLP, the Youth Acticvsm Project, and the ADP Foundation; and the inaugural Bruce A. Fowler Advocate of the Year awardees: Hazel Blackmore Sánchez, Loren Hershey, Lonnie Johnson, and Mary Ellen Heian Schmider. A compelling youth panel moderated by Virginia Gunawan closed the program.
In closing, Board Chair Dr. Walter McCullum issued a clear call: “Tonight, we honor our champions—but tomorrow, we continue our advocacy.”
