Our chapter sends best wishes and support to all those affected by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.
Board member and UNC Asheville faculty member Dr. Tiece Ruffin reported the following after Hurricane Helene passed through on Friday, September 27, 2024:
“The University is under Condition 3 (closure) until October 21st. This means that access to campus by students, faculty, and staff is restricted. Classes will not resume until at least October 28. If you need information and /or support, please check out the University’s Helene Information Page (https://new.unca.edu/helene/).”
Dr. Ruffin has also provided a list of organizations ready to accept donations in this time of need. They are:
- Reparations Stakeholder Authority of Asheville (RSAA): https://www.rsaasheville.org/
- BeLoved Asheville: https://belovedasheville.com/
