Join us in writing letters to elders on Saturday, August 1, 2026, 10:00-11:00 AM. Using information from Love for our Elders, a nonprofit organization “fighting loneliness, one letter at a time,” our virtual event will help their cause “to alleviate social isolation among older adults through handwritten letters and intergenerational connections.”
We’ll provide names, brief biographies, and addresses of elders who desire letters. Attendees will provide their own stationery (paper, blank cards, thinking of you cards with plenty of space to write, etc.), writing utensils (pens, colored pencils, markers, etc.), and postage stamps to write and mail at least one letter.
This event is being held in conjunction with the Fulbright Association Global Day of Service, which commemorates 80 years of the Fulbright Program and “celebrates connection, service, and shared purpose across borders. It invites participants to turn the values of mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and global citizenship into visible action.”
Registration is limited to NC chapter members, visiting Fulbrighters to NC, and guests.
