The Fulbright Program strengthens U.S. national security by building lifelong relationships with future world leaders. These partnerships create trust, foster collaboration, and reinforce America’s strategic alliances. Diplomacy starts with exchange.
In fact, 44 Fulbright alums who conducted research, studied, or taught in the U.S. have gone on to become heads of state or goverment in their home countries. See the list at https://eca.state.gov/fulbright/fulbright-alumni/notable-fulbrighters/heads-stategovernment
Yet, funding for the Fulbright Program remains frozen by the US Department of State. This action jeopardizes the well-being and future of over 12,500 American students, youth, and professionals currently abroad or scheduled to participate in State Department programs in the next six months. Additionally, it cuts funding for U.S. programs hosting more than 7,400 international youth, students, and professionals.
In response, the Fulbright Association has launched the #StandforFulbright campaign. Our efforts will focus on demonstrating how international exchange, particularly through the Fulbright Program, strengthens America’s safety, prosperity, and global standing.
We urge you to join the Fulbright community and #StandforFulbright. The Fulbright Association is the unified voice of the Fulbright community, advocating for the program in the U.S. Congress. We take a strategic, non-partisan approach to advocacy at the local, national, and global levels.
