The Fulbright Program has an important impact on the state of North Carolina. That’s why we #StandForFulbright.
In 2023-24, the economic contributions of foreign students in North Carolina totaled $914,495,608.
Additionally, between 2020 and 2024, 281 US students and 106 US scholars from NC were awarded the opportunity via the Fulbright Program to research, study, or teach abroad, gaining skills critical to US national security and economic competitiveness.
Funding for the Fulbright Program remains frozen by the US Department of State. This action jeopardizes the well-being and future of over 12,500 American students, youth, and professionals currently abroad or scheduled to participate in State Department programs in the next six months. Additionally, it cuts funding for U.S. programs hosting more than 7,400 international youth, students, and professionals.
In response, the Fulbright Association has launched the #StandforFulbright campaign. Our efforts will focus on demonstrating how international exchange, particularly through the Fulbright Program, strengthens America’s safety, prosperity, and global standing.
We urge you to join the Fulbright community and #StandforFulbright. The Fulbright Association is the unified voice of the Fulbright community, advocating for the program in the U.S. Congress. We take a strategic, non-partisan approach to advocacy at the local, national, and global levels.
